Lapo Mamoli Aprile earned a BA in Creative Writing from the University of Greenwich, where he graduated as the highest-achieving student and received the University’s Award for Outstanding Achievement. His early works include Open Up, a stop-motion short that won the first edition of the UN-powered Duemila30 Film Festival.
In 2024 he co-wrote Tre Euro e Quaranta, a feature film shot on a minimal budget that went on to achieve national theatrical distribution in Italy. His latest short film Journal of a Tree, supported by the Ticino and Lombardia Film Commissions, is currently on the international festival circuit.
Lapo has also collaborated with director Ruggero Gabbai on Liliana, a documentary on Holocaust survivor and senator Liliana Segre, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival and won a Nastro d’Argento award. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, he has lived and worked in Shanghai, where he continues to cultivate a growing network of creative and industry collaborators. He is currently developing new narrative and documentary projects between Europe and Asia, including Where Do We Come From? Who Are We? Where Are We Going?, a poetic documentary shot in Shanghai.
Edoardo Gabbai is an Italian producer and director based in London. He holds an MA in Art and Cultural Management from King’s College London, where his documentary dissertation (Be)Longing received the award for Best Arts-Based Research Project. The film examines migration and cultural identity through the voices of artists from Angola, Chile, Ivory Coast, and Venezuela, exploring how their work reflects the disillusionment of arriving in Europe.
He later produced and directed Doppio, part of the international Kenopsia Project, a collective of filmmakers from over twenty countries responding to the pandemic through short films.
As a producer, Edoardo is known for his structured yet intuitive approach, combining logistical precision with a deep sensitivity to artistic process. His background in politics and cultural management has strengthened his ability to navigate complex projects and international collaborations. Driven, rigorous, and unafraid of creative risk, he bridges the gap between vision and execution, turning ideas into films that are both ambitious and grounded.
